Global Education and European Teaching Strategies
2018-1-ES01-KA101-049441
In order to foster actions not only in the classroom practices but also
in the school daily life, they have created the GUS team formed by
25 members: teachers, the director and non-academic school staff.
This team meets periodically and is
responsible for organising school activities
and helping teachers and students to keep
aware of the school policy by creating
materials and solve conflicts among students.
Moreover, there are three subgroups, which
include the students and correspond to the
three pillars: the Gender team, the
Environmental team and the Social Inclusion
team.
The mission pillars
1.The Gender pillar
Girl education and conscious co-education have a long tradition at
Rahlgasse. The school was founded in 1892 as the first Austrian high
school for girls with the claim to facilitate the access of girls to
university education. It has become essential for them to develop
and promote an awareness of the need for equal rights and to
address remaining injustices among the students.
An important keyword at this point is that of "intersectionality",
which focuses on various categories of diversity such as culture,
origin, physical impairment, social status, all kinds of sexuality etc.
The Rahlgasse works on being a place where
critical reflection on gender is experienced and promoted.
gender stereotypes as well as gender hierarchies are
questioned.
diversity is seen as an opportunity and the heterogeneity of
the students is considered a potential.
teachers and board repeatedly reflect critically on themselves
and check whether the didactic concepts used correspond to
the reality of life of the pupils.
