+16 optional subjects from 6th year
For more than ten years, the school has been offering the school-
autonomous core subject "Lernwerkstatt" in the third and fourth
grade in Realgymnasium, which is taught in team teaching and
combines fields of Mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry
transversally. This results in a scientific focus with a holistic and
action-oriented approach. The subject should offer a first individual
access to scientific methods and ways of thinking. From the 6th form,
they have a range of courses to choose from every semester.
Surprisingly enough, they do not have either a playground or a gym
and have to rent a gym near the school. Precisely because, as an
inner-city school, they do not have the necessary infrastructure for
physical education, it is a particularly important concern for them.
There are a number of optional exercises to choose from each year.
They have a 24% of diversity in the classrooms, which is not the
average in Vienna. Some schools in Vienna reach up to 50% of
diversity depending on the areas. The classroom ratio is lower than
in Catalonia, 24 pupils per class and lessons last 50 minutes with
different breaks during the morning. Once a year the project week
is held focusing on a relevant topic. This year the topic is
sustainability.
