I
believe that ISK has done so much for the country. However,
the biggest problem we have in the profession is in reference to
member regulation. I believe that any profession that does not
uphold its ethical procedures and discipline to members will over
time become irrelevant.
ISK should re-look at the statutes to enforce discipline among
members to only allow practitioners who only uphold ethics. This will
help us do away with unhealthy competition.
CHAIRMAN HUMPHREY KIMANI NJUGUNA
Tenure: 16TH JULY 1999 – 28TH MARCH 2003
I
n looking at the future, I think that the institution should work
hard to achieve the dream of developing/purchasing a property
of our own. It should also consider occasionally holding some
AGMs/dinner dances in Nairobi, which were very regular at my
time. ISK should also be more aggressive and firmer in dealing
with professional malpractice particularly in the land surveying and
valuation disciplines.
Additionally, to help improve numbers of licensed surveyors in Kenya,
ISK can provide more support to land surveyors preparing for land
law and license examinations. This can be done through pre-exam
workshops/trainings conducted by senior members.
CHAIRMAN IBRAHIM MWATHANE
Term: 28TH MARCH 2003 – 1ST APRIL 2005
I
SK has grown in various facets from inception to where it is today.
I feel that we are in control and have been given prominence of
the land agenda, which was previously driven by lawyers.
From where I stand, the future is very bright even with the advent of
technology and knowledge. I believe that the relevance of ISK stands
and will play a major role in shaping the future of the nation.
