During this period, ISK was also involved in lobbying for the National Treasury
to endorse the use of valuers in land transactions. To that effect, the treasury
issued a circular to direct the use of valuers as the only experts mandated
to value property and should be well compensated. At the time, clerks and
accountants and other organisations were being used as land surveyors.
In partnership with the government, ISK implemented the marking of roads
that had been marked for construction across the country. This move helped in
building public awareness that development would take place in the future to
prevent illegal settlements.
The institution worked with the Government and relevant ministries in the
recovery of grabbed roads and ensured that the link roads were actually
opened up.
The ISK council created a very active disciplinary committee that sought to
safeguard ethics and integrity in practice. They listened to consumer complaints
and punished members who broke the ISK codes of ethics.
The council encouraged many local chapters in Kenya to hold their own
conferences for their members.
