The INSURGENT projects
Here are some insurgent projects that are making waves in the media by pushing for
more diversity in the beauty industry.
RADICAL BEAUTY PROJECT
ELISE DUMONTET
T
he Radical Beauty Project
is a project that aims
to challenge “opinions and
understandings of beauty in
contemporary culture.” The
photographic campaign only
features models with Down’s
syndrome and the art has
been created by a number of
professional photographers,
using the highest industry
standards of art, fashion and
beauty. The photo collection is
due to be made into a ‘coffee-
table edition art book’.

CHANGING FACES
hanging Faces UK are the UK’s
leading charity for the 1.3 million
people who have a visible difference
such as a scar or skin condition. The
charity helps those who struggle or
live with a visible difference. They raise
awareness by sharing hundreds of
people’s photos along with their stories.
As well as this, the campaigners host
events and talks to spread awareness to
schools, etc, and they also help those
with visible differences cover up with
makeup if they want to do so.
