The INSURGENT projects Here are some insurgent projects that are making waves in the media by pushing for more diversity in the beauty industry. RADICAL BEAUTY PROJECT ELISE DUMONTET T he Radical Beauty Project is a project that aims to challenge “opinions and understandings of beauty in contemporary culture.” The photographic campaign only features models with Down’s syndrome and the art has been created by a number of professional photographers, using the highest industry standards of art, fashion and beauty. The photo collection is due to be made into a ‘coffee- table edition art book’. RISHARD BECKETT C CHANGING FACES hanging Faces UK are the UK’s leading charity for the 1.3 million people who have a visible difference such as a scar or skin condition. The charity helps those who struggle or live with a visible difference. They raise awareness by sharing hundreds of people’s photos along with their stories. As well as this, the campaigners host events and talks to spread awareness to schools, etc, and they also help those with visible differences cover up with makeup if they want to do so. The clothing entails motivational phrases like ‘You are something special’ and ‘Everything that you are is enough’. Aimed at anyone and everyone, All Body UK especially caters for plus sizes, ranging from size small up until 5XL.
