Hazem: It’s very serious issue, unfortunately in Egypt it’s common to make fun of anyone who suffers from many different phobias, and the main reason is the lack of awareness about mental health in general and phobias in a specific way in Egypt, so in some cases people don’t even believe in phobia and they start to mock that person.
Salma: that takes us to a very important point, recognizing that our peers need help with something. What are some symptoms of self injury that we should be on the look-out for?
Hazem: First thing the isolation, you can realize this easily with extroverted people, you will find them start to be less social, but for someone who’s an introvert, it would be harder. Depression symptoms may include Changes in mood “Mood swings”, Changes in daily routine or habits like Eating or sleeping and so on, and of course if the person starts mentioning self harm and suicide in conversations.
Salma: what about after the diagnoses, some people show disgust or fear in their treatment to patients with mental disorders, they sometime make fun of them. Obviously this is wrong so what is the right way we should deal with the case?
