"Abey KHAO"
I-8 Islamabad
Sheikh Faizan Raza along with his siblings Syed Jawad Raza and Ayesha
Raza have taken a very commendable and revolutionary step by opening a
restaurant that employs hearing impaired people, people who in most
places are shunned and ignored. This family has proven that a disability can
actually be their biggest strength. What started off as a food cart is now a
restaurant that has been recognized by the world when it featured on BBC.
The restaurant provides a very unique and special experience. There is a
chart with sign language alphabets drawn on it so that customers can use
it to order food. They can also do so by simply pointing at the menu but
the purpose is that the world should know that being hearing impaired is
not a disability. The owners believe that if an individual who cannot hear
can learn our language, then it shouldn’t be hard for us to do the same.
The restaurant encourages the customers to learn sign language and stop
ostracizing differently abled people.
Faizan has shared a very dear memory about how
he was inspired by his sister’s love for cooking.
That is what made him pursue this dream. These
food lovers have worked hard to create a menu
that is both scrumptious and cheap as well so that
everyone can afford it. The items on the menu
that are the most popular are their samosas
(Chicken Cheese “Sambosa” and Mac ‘n Sausage
“Sambosa” for only Rs.15 and Rs.30 per piece.) and
their brownies as well as their Chicken burger.
Everyone should visit Abey KHAO and show their
love and support.
