"[Caroline and Amanda's] service was very well organized and it was really easy to talk to people. I loved it."

Even though there was a large age gap, the mentors and teenagers were always able to relate in one way or another. The mentors seemed impressed with the teens hard work and their goals for the future. The teenagers seemed to have genuine interest and respect for all the women had accomplished. There seemed to be some real benefits from this night.

Women have been facing inequalities since the beginning of time. They work hard for respect and equality every day. Their knowledge can be helpful to everyone, boys and girls. According for Forbes Magazine, “In male dominating professions, where women often face greater challenges building networks and embracing feminine leadership strengths, mentoring has proven even more paramount” (Margie Warell).

Not just anyone can become a mentor. It is important to choose a good mentor to learn and grow from. According to Amanda Sanders, some qualities of a good mentor include, “having a general positive attitude, interested and genuinely cares about the mentee, and motivates by setting a good example”.

Amanda shared that her initial motivation for this project was the amazing women in her neighborhood, she said “I never really got the chance to know them. I knew they were amazing and had accomplished so much in their lives, but had never had a chance to hear their stories!”

Amanda had the experience to sit down and talk with women who she sees so often, but didn’t know much about. Not only was this beneficial to her, but she got to share this experience with other classmates and the women mentors. All who participated in the event came out with a benefit. Amanda concluded with, “I was very satisfied with the result of the project, I feel that everyone who came participated and was engaged”.
