During this class period we discussed the ways that no partitions are impacting the students. One main reason was being late to their next class, which then begins to affect their education. The reason the guys are late is because they are following the “guy code” or waiting for the stall. And because there is few, to one stall in a bathroom and no partitions, the line and waiting in the bathroom increases and takes away from time a student could be learning.
“I think that there should be changes because equality does not stand for men. Changes should be made so that everyone who attends school can comfortably go about their business. The number of bathrooms available to be used by the males at East is lacking. This is a problem when male students inevitably walk across the whole school disrupting student’s learning time” - Christian Mendoza
After Christian Mendoza sent his letter and ended up talking to the principal, it is expected that East High School will have partitions in the men's bathrooms in one to five years. This is a service to all new boys coming to East High School. The other boys will be able to spend more time in the classroom instead of the bathroom. It will make the flow is the bathrooms better and the boys will feel more comfortable going to the bathrooms at school. It will change from being worried about when and where you are going to the restroom, to be able to focus on school.
