For my service project I decided to work with a program called YTY (youth teaching youth). We focused on passing information to children who are younger than us and then they do the same. The organization is part of the Natural History Museum of Utah. This project benefited from this project because I learned how to be a mentor and how to overcome the fear of teaching someone younger than me.

For our service project we chose to raise awareness for cataract blindness in Ethiopia. We asked for donations through a website and informed our class on the issues. This service was beneficial to us because we were able to use resources we have to help those in need, I learned alot about the living conditions in ethiopia. The donations given to the website will be used directly to fund cataract surgeries. My project has inspired me to continue to do service for my community and others in need.

REFLECTIONS FROM THE SERVICE LEARNERS

My project was all designed around Pep Club. I created this club as a place for all students to feel welcome and be able to join without any issues. Studies have proven that if students are involved in school they have a greater chance of success. My service benefits the students at east who are apart of this club.

For my project we connected women in the Salt Lake City area together. We planned a luncheon where women could learn about each other’s lives and gain invaluable advice. My service was impactful to me because it allowed us to create invaluable relationships with people that I know. This connections will be crucial in making us self-sufficient adults. Women need women!
