Fort Greene Strategic Neighborhood Action Partnership (SNAP) helps residents in Brooklyn, NY learn the tools to help them take control of their lives and make positive decisions. Homecoming Farm, Amityville, NY, is a community supported agricultural project that includes an organic farm and outreach programs. They donate 20% of their produce to the homeless. The OPening Word Program increases literacy and job readiness skills for immigrant women on Long Island providing them with tools to become financially sustainable. Bethany House offers homeless women and children a homelike atmosphere. Comprehensive services encourage individuals and family to attain self-sufficiency and restore human dignity. Asambelea Familiar Virgilio Davila (AFVD), is located in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and provides an after school program to underserved children living in public housing. AFVD has assisted more than 1,500 students over the past 31 years; increasing academic skills, addressing social-emotional issues and providing a safe and secure environment. Centro Geriatrico El Remanso, Culebra, Puerto Rico offers excellent care and service to senior citizens; and individual and family counseling to the underprivileged community in Culebra. Facing the Homeless delivers ongoing disaster relief by offering emotional, spiritual, and financial support for the homeless, recently homeless, and those at risk of becoming homeless, including survivors of Hurricane Sandy and veterans. Dominican Youth Movement USA connects young adults to the Dominican tradition of preaching. Sister Virginia Connors, OP LMT, CLT shares her gift of medical massage therapy with recovering cancer patients who lack financial resources to avail themselves of such treatments and services.
