RUBBER SECTOR
Skill Courses, one each in Regular and Summer Skill Skool, according to the Qualification Packs issued by the Rubber Skill Development Council were offered by ASAP in the year 2014-15. Internships and placement drives were offered to students who had successfully completed the courses. In the placement drive conducted at the Rubber Training Institute( RTI) on 15th September 2015candidates participated and several students were offered placements in reputed firms.
Meetings with RSDC
Meeting of the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme( ASAP) with the Rubber Sector Development Council( RSDC) was conducted on 7th July 2015 at Indraprestha Hotel, Kottayam. The meeting focused on analysis of activities in the sector along with discussions on future programmes to be implemented. Shri Anil Kumar T V, Head- Rubber Sector, ASAP, Ms. Shewani Nagpal, Director-Training & Affiliation, RSDC, Ms Thasneem Nizar, Program Manager In Charge of Rubber Sector, ASAP and Ms Johnila Tibiya, coordinator, RSDC participated in the deliberations.
Revisal of transaction hours, sharing of final assessment result, practical and internship arrangement, issues in internship arrangement were discussed. The panel agreed upon extra efforts in ensuring quality of the practical sessions. As a continuation of the meeting held on 7th July, another meeting was organized between ASAP and RSDC officials on 20th August 2015 at the ASAP secretariat. Decisions were taken on certificate distribution, placement drives, tentative dates of placement drive and BAC Committee meeting.
Business Advisory Committee Meeting
The first meeting of Business Advisory Committee for Rubber sector was convened at the ASAP Secretariat on 11th September, 2015 in the presence of Dr Reju M T, CEO ASAP. Shri Anil Kumar T V, Head Training & Ms Thasneem Nizar, Programme Manager In charge, Rubber Sector and invited BAC members constituted the discussion panel. Committee took decisions to integrate different Qualification Packs for the Lab chemist programme and to improve the quality of assessment by using monitoring strategies of the RSDC. New job roles such as Rubber plantation supervisor, Lab Chemist / Assistant and Senior Rubber Technician were also identified as a result of the deliberations. It was also decided to create a trainer pool by providing orientation workshop for all trainers. Suggestions were obtained from the members for arranging internship and practical sessions at reputed firms.
