SECTOR HIGHLIGHTS
Skill training with quality is a core concern for ASAP and for this, systems and processes have been designed and put in place. With a total of 76 skill courses in 22 Sectors, quality assurance of training is a major challenge undertaken by ASAP in every step. The curricula, training methods and course level documents of the skill courses, are designed in such a way that quality assurance becomes well defined and easy to ensure. Also, learning experience of the student and his / her ability to perform in chosen tasks upon completion of the courses, are given top priority at all stages of ASAP quality assurance.
ASAP takes great care in allotting students to various skill courses. Aptitude of the student for a specific course, determined by a scientifically developed tool, as well as student interest for a particular course are considered while mapping students to courses. Once a student is enrolled to a course, he / she then gets a carefully designed training experience involving high quality training aids and best industry exposure. The skill training path that every student undertakes includes basic skills training to hands on experience in industrial settings as part of practical sessions and internships. Four years of successful interventions by ASAP in this area, has resulted in some extra ordinary student performance as well as entrepreneurship initiatives from the students of Higher Secondary Schools and Undergraduate Colleges.
Training partners of each sector are coordinated through different levels which includes District Coordinator of TSP, State Coordinator of TSP, Concerned department heads, Subject Matter Experts and finally the CEO or Director of the partner. As part of ensuring quality of course wares, ASAP conducts meeting and workshops for content leads of Training Service Providers in order to set documents according to the national standards. ASAP demands five documents to be prepared by the TSPs which include Quality frame work, Participant handbook, Trainer handbook, Assessment guide & syllabus. The documents submitted by TSP are approved after different levels of vetting process which include review from academic expert and evaluation by sector head and Programme Manager in charge of sector.
Training Service Providers offer Skill classes and practical training in the laboratories in ASAP Skill Development Centers or at the On-the-Job Training Centres identified by TSPs and approved by ASAP. Internships are mandatory for the ASAP skill courses and most of them are carried out in Onthe Job Training( OJT) mode. Real world exposure in industrial set ups under the guidance of professionals in the field instills confidence in the students for exploring new avenues and opportunities.
Students at the OJT centers get opportunities for interactions with experienced and skilled employees. Along with practical sessions, skill exhibitions and expos were conducted by many of the skill sectors, where students showcase their talent. The training processes also include industrial
