Conclusion
Although I did not end up completing the animation for the deadline and not making the finialised anima-
tion I had intended I was still able to push myself to become so much more confident from the beginning
of the term to now. With every mistake I was tested and overcome the trial. I was worried I wouldn’t
be able to create something I liked, but I have exceeded my expectation. I was able to create effective
character animation and challenge myself by doing a quadruped and a child animation. I challenged myself
to animate so many different elements, for this I am proud. Another reason why I felt as though I was not
able to complete my piece to my standard was because of the amount of characters I chose to explore. I
also deliberatly went for a style that added extra time on my process. Even though I am disappointed. I
have invested so much time and worked everyday on this project. Where I think I went wrong was spend-
ing too long on the pre - production stages. I wanted to polish my 2D animation skills. At times I do find
it toughs, especially when working to a deadline as it always takes longer than you think. I had originally
scheduled 2 months to animate, yet I only had 6 weeks in the end to animate which is another reason as
to why the project wasn’t finalised in the way I had planned. I am still only a beginner int his industry. Yet
this experience was still very valuable to me growing as an animator.
I considered my target audience and consistency thought about how children would view the animation.
I was playful with how I could play with shots to create a piece with tension and playfulness. I surprised
myself in the ability of creating painted concept art, which I really enjoyed and is something I want
to develop. Story is an important stage to me; and helped me greatly when it came to animating the
characters. I had also intended to create an animation that had texture and richness wh ich doubled my
colouring time. I pushed myself and tried to challenge the look of my piece by being experimental. So even
though I was not able to finish the animation I am really glad for the valuable experience of pushing my self
to work on others projects, to collaborate with sound and music and to evolve my character animation skill.
I hope now to continue with the piece to complete for degree show, I had contacted the National Trust
to ask if I could use there logo to which they allowed me to. I hope to send the animation over in the end.
Everyday I was passionate to work on this piece of animation. I hope to continue looking at using anima-
tion to help conservation over summer.
