Expectations of a certain speed and standard of production can be a source of anxiety in artists that can cause a mental block that ends up in a stoppage of production . In 1989 artist Maurizio Cattelan was commissioned his first solo exhibition . Cattelan suddenly felt that he would not be able to create any work worthy of the commission . He became very anxious and unable to create . Finally he hanged a sign at the door that read “ Torno Subito ” ( Back Soon ) and locked the gallery door . This became the piece for his first solo exhibition . Cattelan made use of his inability to create in order to create . The audience were kept waiting outside the Gallery .
