It is imperative for the mentor to maintain contact with the volunteer, most especially at the half-way
mark during a volunteers’ program period. The mentor should facilitate volunteer in order to stay
motivated and fully engaged in the local community.
Phase 6: Maintaining Contact with the Host Organization
In order for the host organization to evaluate the process of EVS and the status of their current
volunteers, the mentor should maintain close contact with the hosting organization. In doing so, the
host organization could better understand the volunteers needs, possible risks and foreseeable
outcomes.
