even had a plan to run away
together. Although this event can be
seen as a sweet and romantic event,
however actually, Elliot does not
escape from the grasp of scandals
because once again she was said to
live in sin. Elliot relationship with
Lewes was not tied with marriage
and so, she didn’t get to be the
respectable figure. This couple has
been living together for about
25years until one of them is dead
which Lewes is. Despairs may
surround Mary Ann and now call as
George Elliot but, not long after
Lewes’s demise,Mary Ann marries 
another man called John cross that
aged around 20 years younger than
Mary Anne. The scandal surrounds
this woman again after an incident
occurred during their honeymoon in
Venice where John (her Husband)
fell from a balcony. Though the
rumors of Scandalous Elliot may
surround London, the marriage of 
Elliot and Cross stayed about 7
months now, still counting -perhaps.
But, what’s weird and scandalous is
because, instead of wanting to be
buried with her current husband, she
chooses to be buried next to her
“Eternal” lover which is  George
Henry Lewes.
