Georgia Karbelnikoff
Georgia grew up in a town in Massachusetts and confronted a lot
of verbal harassment and catcalling. Sometimes, people would
joke at school: “You are so gay!” or call out hateful words to her
without knowing what they meant. Georgia was always proud of her
sexuality, but when homophobic people attacked her, she was often
frustrated. When she tried to argue with them, people ignored her.
They Say
I Say
“
I have heard many people
say THE WORD FAG to me in
a negative context. I have
heard it at home, here and
in many other places. From
a friend and a foe.
”
“
Please understand what
you are saying before
you go and hurt my
feeling with your cruel
uneducated vocal cords.
