Are you a feminist?
Yes
When did you realize that girls were not
equal to boys?
I remembered I was playing on the playground;
there were separate groups for boys and girls soccer
team. When I was little, there was a weird unspoken
separation between everyone. People thought girls
should do cooking games instead of playing the games
boys play.
What challenges do you encounter when
you present your feminist ideas?
When I grew up, I was surrounded by positive views
of feminism. I didn’t exactly remember the time I
wasn’t feminist. However, when I tell everyone I am
a feminist, my family members or my friends even
make humor and jokes regarding it. People get angry
because their way of life is being challenged. I try to
be calmly respectful, but it gets to the point where
whatever I try to do, people won’t change their views.
What kind of feminist actions did you
take?
Well. I always support “Free the Nipple” movement.
I also participate in women’s march and try to reach
out non-feminists. In daily life, I try to be as thoughtful
and respectful as possible.
What’s the thing that can make people feel
more comfortable with feminism?
“I think feminism is a
quality for all genders.
It’s an emphasis on
women’s rights.”
Making sure people define feminism right. It’s often
people have different opinions on it. Many people
think it’s equal to man-hating, or it’s women better
than anyone else, but it’s totally not like that. I
personally don’t hate the man, and I don’t inherently
say men are terrible, so I think people shouldn’t
stereotyping feminists.
