The Boots to Buy
The new Nike boot range was put to the test in a variety of harsh conditions that players these days will see and their boots will go through, Firstly we tested speed off the mark, Weight, Jumping, Kicking and overall comfort. These boots were also tested on a wet field, Dry field and synthetic field. Trust me you will be surprised with some of the results and performances.
Magista is Nike's newest boot and is claimed as a good all round boot by Nike and often labeled as the “play makers” boot. Although they claim this we have found it to be a bit of a dodgy claim. The boot performed outstandingly on the synthetic field in all areas but when it was tested on the 2 real fields its performance well let's just say “lacked” they were slow of the mark, No good for jumping and kicking was poor. Nike claim this is because they were designed for synthetic field playing and more for soccer synthetic fields than normal fields. So unless you are playing your rugby on a synthetic field which is very rare don't buy this boot. Due to this its rating is 4/10.
Tiempo is Nike's oldest style boot and is very effective with Nike claiming “its classic leather gives a good touch and plenty of grip”, Nike is kind of right it is an average all rounder and work well in all circumstances whether you are on the synthetic wet or dry field it kicks well and has a good speed of the mark due to its grip. Jumping is also okay on the boot with a good jump and a steady gripping land. The overall feel of this boot is also quite good. There is nothing really lacking in this boot but nothing really outstanding. This leads the overall rating to be 7/10.
