Examples of games
Example of game 14 - Romania
BLIND OLD WOMAN
This game is played in a group of minimum 5 children.
The game is played outdoor and in the classroom.
Age group of the players: 3-7 age; Tools of the game: scarf
A child is blindfolded with a scarf and is named "Blind old
woman . The other children hide or try of the "Blind old woman"
to avoid being caught. The blindfolded child has to catch one of
the children who run or hide. He must pay attention to the sounds
produced by other children, thus managing to catch them. The
caught child replaces the blindfolded child and becomes "Blind
old woman".
Blind old woman is a game that is played with pleasure by
children of all ages, especially preschoolers. The aim is to
capture and identify colleagues without seeing them.
This game reminds me of my childhood, of my days without
worries when the only purpose was playing with friends. This joy I
felt in children. Their wide smiles and laughter made me
understand that the game gave them great pleasure. The beauty
of the game lies in the different ways in which children fail to
hide, to beware of Blind old woman . Children really liked that
they were blindfolded, looked for other children, they found them
and were able to say who they were.
Example of game 15 - Romania
DUCKS AND HUNTERS
The game should involve at least 6 children. The game is played
outdoor and in the classroom. Tools of the game: Ball.
Players are divided into ducks and hunters. 2 players need to
play the role of the hunters and the rest of them are ducks. The
playground is settled. Typically, the space is rectangular. At each
end line of the playground there is a hunter who is not allowed to
enter the playing area. Between hunters there are the ducks.
Hunters are supposed to hunt ducks by hitting them with the ball.
When the ball touches a duck, it goes out. Ducks must avoid
being hit by the ball, without leaving the playing area. The last
remaining duck must be hit by the hunters with the ball, from the
same number of attempts as the age of the child (for example: if
the duck is 5 years old, hunters must get her out of the game
from maximum 5 throws). If they fail, the game is restarted with
the same hunters. The game ends when all the ducks were
touched by the ball. The next hunters are the first two ducks
which were removed from the game.
Children enjoy playing this game. Its rules are easy to learn and
to follow by them. The teacher involves less in the coordination of
the game. Children who are ducks try to avoid being touched by
the ball thrown by the two hunters in turns. Played in groups of
10-12 children, the game is fun and gives children the opportunity
to interact, to form a group and to work within a team. For
children who have issues integrating into the class group this
game is an opportunity to socialize and to make friends.
