deliver deliciousness

If you decide to have a cake that is 3 tiers or larger, delivery by the bakery is a must! You do not want to have this beautiful creation topple over in transit! Otherwise, make sure you have someone responsible pick up and deliver your small cake and desserts. On your wedding day, keep your cake refrigerated and if possible, take it out about an hour before it is to be cut. Do not place your cake in direct sunlight, especially during the summer months. Assign someone confident to cut your cake or use your baker or caterer after you two lovebirds take the first bite.

serve it up

Having two people cut a wedding cake is not something most people are used to doing, so practice beforehand so that you don’ t feel awkward. Try having your fiancé place their hands on top of yours as you slice down into the bottom tier of the cake. Do not use a sawing motion, you do not want to make a crumbly mess! Charity Fent of Charity Fent Cake Designs knows a thing or two about wedding cakes.“ Many couples do not know that you cut from the bottom tier to serve each other.” The bottom tier is the most stable, but avoid cutting the supports between the layers. You only need to cut about a one inch size slice for the perfect photos for you two to share. Sometimes this moment is replaced by a different tradition: smashing cake into each other ' s faces. How you feed each other the cake is up to you, we won’ t judge!

to save or not to save?

What about the tradition of saving some of your wedding cake to eat on your first anniversary? Charity, who has been in business for over 15 years, baking for and advising couples how to save their wedding cake says,“ if you follow my instructions it will be as good in a year as it was on your wedding day! But who has the freezer space to keep it? So I say just order a new one for your anniversary!”
So savor the moment. Have your cake- and eat it too!
