The back-and-forth battle for power between Birdman and Lil Wayne seems to be getting a little deeper. More like messier.
Thursday (July 16) it was reported that Birdman is now suing TIDAL for $50 million for streaming Lil Wayne's new album The Free Weezy Album. The lawsuits states that Cash Money claims to have exclusive rights to Wayne's music while also accusing TIDAL of steaming The Free Weezy Album as "a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service."
TIDAL'S claiming that Lil Wayne gave them permission to stream his new album in exchange for partial ownership of the company. Cash Money is holding firm stating that there's a specific clause in Lil Wayne's contract that prohibits him from licensing his music to third parties outside of the Cash Money organization without sanction. The lawsuit also states that unpleasant album reviews in relation to The Free Weezy Album have poosibly caused the company a loss.
