“Music is a language. Both music and verbal languages serve the same purpose.
They are both forms of expression.
They can be used as a way to communicate with others.
They can be read or written.
They can make you laugh or cry, think or question, and can speak to one or many.
And both can definitely make you move."

ELITE
MUSICIANS
Ever wanted to do your own professional concert? Here's a brand new and exciting opportunity for all of our performing members.
Musicsoc/Summer, 2014 3
One of our key priorities at Music Society is to provide exciting musical opportunities for our members. This could be the opportunity to learn a new instrument (which can be borrowed from us), record your own music, or learning more out about music and the industry through our Talks series. Now, we introduce something entirely different - the Elite Musicians Scheme.
The Elite Musicians Scheme is a competitive programme open to all our members. It gives the opportunity for any soloist or
student-led ensemble to perform in their own professional evening concert as part of the York Concerts Series.
How it works: students undertake an audition, they then begin preparing a programme of their best music, then depending on availability, they could be offered their own professional-standard concert!
Nothing like this has ever been offered to students, but finally the opportunity is here! You will get to experience what it is like to perform as a professional as well as take part on an exclusive scheme that will look good on any CV! More details in Autumn..
