Do you feel gender biases are more prevalent in the rock genre than others?
I think it’s more unexpected to have a girl drummer in a rock band. At the same time everyone has been extremely positive and supportive. For the most part I don’t feel that I get treated differently than anyone else.
What role models/inspirations did you have in the industry that made you want to become the successful musician you are today?
I’ve always been a big fan of Aaron Gillespie and Travis Barker. I get different types of inspiration from pretty much any drummer I see. Everyone has different styles and things that they do that I find interesting.
What advice would you give to a girl that felt being female was holding her back And was feeling discouraged to make her debut in the music industry?
Just go for it! Theres no reason to feel discouraged. There’s a lot more girls getting involved in music today and people are becoming more and more accepting.
