TeraBrite is an interesting band name, How did that name come about for you guys?

DJ used to be in another band just after high school and was looking for a name for it when he came up with TeraBrite, which is a play off the word terabyte. None of his band members liked it. Around that time DJ and I recorded a song called No One Knows just for fun so DJ proposed that we put it on Myspace and call ourselves TeraBrite. We both liked it since we both love technology and it sounds techy.

How did TeraBrite come about? (Formed? when? How? Where did you meet?)

DJ and I met when we were 16 through mutual friends. Even though we went to different high schools, we still found time to hang out. Then after graduation in 2008 we started dating and in 2009 we recorded our first song No One Knows. That’s when TeraBrite formed, but at that point it wasn’t our main focus or a real thing, just something we did on the side. It wasn’t until the end of 2010 when we made an intro for the SHAYTARDS YouTube channel that we actually became full on TeraBrite. After that and many intros later we were officially YouTubers!

Being a 2-piece band would you say its more difficult to create music rather then if you had an entire 5-6 piece band to record?

It is nice to be able to record at any hour with no distractions in your room all night. There are definitely disadvantages to not having many creative minds contributing, but at the same time you skip any disagreements and the fact that recording time will be wasted socializing and having fun with the band. In a way it’s easier being your own boss and having your own flow.

When creating covers of popular songs, How do you go about choosing what songs to cover?

There are many factors that go into what song to cover. For us and many others, covers are what drive traffic to our channel and we are trying to build a following who will see our originals that would otherwise never be found. We like to cover songs that just came out as soon as we can. There have been many times where a song came out at midnight and we started working on it right away getting it out in a fully produced music video the next day. The song has to be something we see or can actually hear our style of music being incorporated in.
