Shirley of the Po . L . K . of A . One of our members , Merton Omtvedt also gave another $ 500.00 to the Shriners Hospital for a total of $ 1,500.00 was that check amount . On June 21st we presented the check to the Shriners Hospital at the Shriners Ranch out near Delano , MN . The kids were very happy and excited to see the big check in the amount of $ 1,500.00 and also to get to ride the horses and have lunch . Each child also received a stuffed toy . It was a great experience to see these kids with their handicaps and see how happy they were . The pictures taken are in this issue of M & D . As this issue goes to press our Music Fest will be over with . Just hoping everyone had a good time . Stay healthy and keep on dancing when and where you can .

How fast time flies ! Summer is practically over and the Autumnal Equinox is almost upon us ! Our President Sheila Johnson and Vice President Larry Hoff , as well as other members and Officers of the Arizona Chapter of the Po . L . K . of A . have been busy representing our Klub and getting the word out about our upcoming 2022- 2023 dance season across Minnesota and Wisconsin by attending various Polka festivals .
As we transition from summer outdoor activities such as baseball and
picnics , bathing suits and swimming to family holiday gatherings I ’ d argue that this is the most wonderful time of year . “ The heat of autumn is different from the heat of summer . One ripens apples , the other turns them to cider . Quote from Jane Hershfield ’ s poem The Heat of Autumn .”
In addition to All hallows Eve , Thanksgiving and Oktoberfest ’ s , there ’ s those enjoyable cool days and evenings spent on the family porch sipping hot chocolate or spiced apple cider , driving through the countryside viewing the gorgeous fall colors of red , orange , and yellow as the trees begin to shed their green foliage , pulling out those warm lap blankets , jackets and stocking caps from storage and of course , all things pumpkin spice .
Looking forward , Julie Lee and Her White Rose Band has an Octoberfest scheduled in The Outlaw
Square , Deadwood , SD Friday , September 30 ( 1-5pm ) and Saturday , October 1 ( 1-5pm ) while Barefoot Becky also has one planned Saturday , October 1 ( 7-10pm ) at
Manning Hausbarn- Heritage Park , Manning , IA .
As for our 2022-2023 Dance Schedule , I ’ ve received signed contracts from all our entertainers and our schedule is confirmed . Hope to see your smiling faces there ! Keep on Dancing !
