Sunday, July 14 The Midwest Polka Association Potluck Pic- nic Bash will start at noon Sunday, July 14, at Aquatore Park, 93rd Ave./Clover Leaf Park- way and Central Ave. NE (Hwy 65) in Blaine. It’s a free event, so encourage family and friends to attend, and bring a dish to share. The MPA will provide Polish sausages, hot dogs, and traditional root beer floats. After eating, dance in the pavilion. It’s also a jam session, so musicians are welcome to bring their instruments. Bring lawn chairs. For location directions, call Danny at (763) 244- 0152. Friday, Aug. 9 - Sunday, Aug. 11 Attend the free 11th annual Twin Cities Pol- ish Festival along the Mississippi River on Old Main Street across from Riverplace in Minneapo- lis, and experience “all things Polish.” New this year – an out- door Catholic Mass, Sun- day at 9 a.m. Enjoy dancing, folk dance exhibitions, arts and crafts, and Polish food and beverages. The white Polish Tatra sheepdogs and a chil- dren’s play area will also be available. The Emerson Avenue Band kicks off the festi- val Friday night – a high- energy rock band from Minneapolis. Dance to favorite Min- nesota polka bands Sat- urday and Sunday – The Jolly Zuks, DyVersaCo, The Main Squeeze, and Doctor Kielbasa – along with a Wisconsin band, LIVEwire. Donna honored Kelly Hoffman, president of the Fond du Lac Lioness Club, presented Donna Gudex-Kamrath with a plant, certificate, and handmade cards for the work she does organizing and promoting dances in Fond du Lac, WI.
