Vandana: My debut
is a duet with Haricharan
was in 2012, I sang this
and written by the N
beautiful song for GV
Muthukumar Sir. Working
Prakash, it is what we
with GV was very
performed at the beginning interesting as I was a
of the session and it is called complete new comer at
“oru padhi kadhavu” from
that point and I was very
the movie Thandavam. It
scared, timid and nervous.
I would just start tearing up
if they say something, that
was be 5 years ago. Ever
since that Imman sir has
given me some really really
beautiful songs starting
from ”Kudamela” from the
movie Rummy, “Unna ippo
parkanum” from kayal and
lot of other songs that have
given me a lot of beautiful
feedback and appreciation
and love from my listeners.
Apart from these wonderful
composers I have worked
with Harris Jayaraj sir,
Vijay Antony sir and also
got a wonderful opportunity
to work with Raja sir last
year in 2016 for the film
“Amma Kanaku”. In the
past 5 years, it’s been a very
10
10
nice journey and a lot of
things have happened that
am grateful for. I am hoping
to work with a lot more
composers in the future.
MM: What does text does
to your Singing?
Vandana: I think you
cannot have one without
the other when it comes to
a film song. But of course,
you can have instrumental
versions alone. When it
comes to a song, music
and lyrics are closely
intertwined, it is a quite a
beautiful relationship in fact
when you have a favourite
song you’d find that it’s not
just the tune of the song it
is also the words or lyrics
of the song you deeply get
connected to. For me I
strongly feel about old Hindi
songs because when you
listen to the songs I can’t
decide which I love more the
