MICHAEL LYNDS ,
212 BODYBUILDING
Mike Lynds was a football star in his youth in Truro , Nova Scotia ( where he still resides ), excelling at the running back position . This was his motivation for beginning weightlifting : to put on weight and play football professionally . When he was 24 , he tried out for the Canadian Football League , but was told to put on some weight and go to camp the following summer . Instead of turning pro in football , however , Mike began his fitness competition career . In 2007 , he won the NSABBA ( Nova Scotia ) Championships Middleweight and Overall divisions . By 2011 , he entered the CBBF Nationals in the Heavyweight class , where he finished fifth . The following year was a breakthrough for Mike , as he went all the way to the top and won the 2012 CBBF Elite Championships in both Heavyweight and Overall ; as a result of his victory , he was awarded his IFBB pro status . As a professional , Mike ’ s career highlights include a fourth-place finish at the 2015 Vancouver Pro .
Mike has said that he derived great inspiration for bodybuilding from icons Shawn Ray and Kevin Levrone . He is the co-owner of the Lynds Den Fitness and Supplement King Bridgewater Canadian Tire in Nova Scotia . He can be checked out online on Instagram at @ ifbbpromikelynds .
At this year ’ s CBBF National Fitness , Figure , and Physique competition in Surrey , British Columbia , on July 29 , your men ’ s Physique champion became Philippe Lebrun from Montreal ( originally from Gatineau , Quebec ). Philippe describes his victory as “ the best day of my life .” It was observed that Philippe has excellent quad development and great potential to consider the Classic Physique division . Philippe responded , “ You never know . I train legs twice a week all year long , and I think that every IFBB pro thinks like a bodybuilder to reach their success .”
Philippe is not just an exceptional athlete in his own right but also a very successful coach and trainer , despite his young age of 27 . Just one example of his success stories involves Patrick Julien , who made the top three in his third attempt at his provincial championships . Under Philippe ’ s guidance , Patrick added 15 pounds of raw muscle and leaned out sharply over 16 weeks of prep . Philippe has also taught posing sessions at the renowned Pro Gym in Montreal ( the biggest gym in North America ), and his social media pages ( including Instagram @ trainerfitphil _ ifbbpro ) reveal an extensive list of successful competitive athletes thanking Philippe for the results of his coaching .
MICHAEL GRAYER ,
PHYSIQUE
Michael Grayer is not only an IFBB Physique pro , but as the founder and co-owner of HARD Studio , he is a highly sought after transformation expert and popular prep coach as well . Michael in originally from Harrow , Ontario ( near Windsor ), but now makes his home in Toronto . A simple look at his Instagram page (@ michaelcharlesgrayer ) reveals an outstanding list of clients of both a competitive slant ( Bodybuilding , Figure , Bikini , Physique ) and also ordinary people looking to lose weight and gain muscle ( and keep these changes permanently ).
Michael began as a bootcamp instructor some 12 years ago , at a time when the notion of prep coaches hadn ’ t fully caught on . His philosophy revolves around the concept that everyone performs exercises in different ways biomechanically , and therefore the attention to detail placed on exercise execution is crucial . “ There ’ s a notion that the exercise itself performs the function , but this is not true ,” says Michael , who believes that it ’ s the responsibility of the coach to consider , most importantly , the client ’ s body type and to base the execution accordingly . “ You have to get better at exercise before you can get better results from it ,” says Michael . As an IFBB pro , it comes as no surprise that Michael is passionate about offering professional services through knowledge , motivation , and accountability .
