of the end zone, only for the ball to be picked off by
CB Jonny Russian in a play that would have won the
Royals the game. Called back for a dubious PI, the
Miners got a 1st and goal on the 1 yard line. After
false starting on the first play to back them up 5
yards, the QB scrambled and some poor tackling
meant he reached the end zone for their second
touchdown. The 2 point conversion was successful
on the last play of the game. Final score 13-14
Miners.
Defeat was hard to swallow knowing they’d come so
close but the Royals aren’t letting it get to them.
Next up is the Bendigo Dragons and both teams are
coming for that win.
A few words from the coach...
“I’m happy with both teams. They both put in
100%. I have to give to give credit to the guys
on the line for a long day in the mud, especially
those who played both ways. We’re annoyed
not to have got a win but we’ll use this as a
learning experience and improve next week.”
