Immunology/Rheumatology
Letter From The Director
The Division of Immunology and Rheumatology at the University of Missouri-Columbia
has a strong presence in patient care, research and education. The Division has a long
history of providing excellent care to adults and children with rheumatic diseases in
Missouri serving patients at University Hospital, Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’
Hospital, and Women’s and Children’s Hospital. This year, the division started a
Rheumatology-Dermatology clinic in collaboration with faculty of the Department of
Dermatology. We are part of the Missouri Telehealth Network. In addition, we have
introduced musculoskeletal ultrasound in fellow education and patient care. Our faculty
has been active in basic science, clinical, education, quality-improvement research,
and co-direct the Dr. Gordon Sharp Antinuclear Antibody (ANA) Laboratory that serves
patients and physicians in Missouri and around the country. Our fellowship program is
fully accredited and graduates rheumatologists for Missouri and surrounding states.
