Next, assess your tools. Do some Spring cleaning on your social media (not JUST LinkedIn, but all available platforms) and resume. Have you added necessary training, skills, and certifications required in your industry? Is your overall social media footprint conducive to your search?
Now that your assets have been tended to, yourself included, your job search is ready to blossom.
Make a plan, and work your plan. You’ve assessed yourself and your credentials. Now you need to assess your strategy. What have you done in the past? Was it successful? Could it be improved? Try taking different approaches to your job search. If you haven't been tracking the jobs that you apply to and the results, it's a good time to start. This is an easy way to see the consistencies and inconsistencies in your search and application process.
Don’t just rely on the age-old use of job boards, go out and network. Networking is still the number one way to get a job. Research companies that you really want to work for and then network with employees there, on social media platforms and in-person, if possible. Be creative in how you network. Playing golf, taking a new yoga class, or reading a new book at your favorite coffee shop can all be great networking opportunities.
