SOCIAL MEDIA:

An Inside Look at Working with CASY

By: Brent C., MSEJ Writer

CASY staff are military spouses or vets themselves, and they want to work with you by understanding your current situation, skills, goals, and by providing useful recommendations.

They want to work for you by doing mock interviews and seeking targeted connections with partner companies after you are well prepared for hiring. Someday, you may not have free help with a resume or be able to practice job interviews with a willing participant, so it is prudent to take advantage of these services and guidance, and to stay engaged. Best of luck!

Initially, expect to focus on basics: resume building, skills assessments, job search resources, mock interviews, determining priorities, setting goals, and general targeted support. This last phrase, general targeted support, is important because it allows an Employment Specialist to adapt.

CASY’s services are not cookie-cutter:

you receive tailored service.

Also, expect the people at CASY to be your

partners. A lot depends on your goals and the

degree to which you engage and communicate regarding an Employment Specialist’s recommendations. If you do everything the Specialist asks and you haven’t been hired for your targeted job, then it’s ok to work on a new approach.
