With the growth of jobs in these markets, Fort Hood has collaborated with organizations like St. Michaels and CASY to provide transitional training and placement assistance within a number of these industries.

SAP training by St. Michaels provies an 18-week hands-on

course in SAP for soldiers affected by downsizing. This hands-on training focuses on teaching Soldiers materials management and the Procure-to-Pay life cycle (FI/CO financial accounting and controlling), a key integration point with materials management. CASY has partnered with St. Michaels to provide employment placement assistance to soldiers completing this training.

In 2016 CASY and IBM will offer their IBM® i2® Analyst’s Notebook® training (resulting in certification), at Fort Hood, to soldiers leaving active duty or serving in the National Guard or Reserve. CASY will provide employment placement assistance to soldiers upon completion.

ClaimVets offers a free course in claims adjustment and placement upon completion.

VettoCEO offers entrepreneurial training and assistance to veterans looking to start their own businesses or franchise.

OSCA offers safety training to veterans in TX out of their Houston Safety Council building.

Health Care, Mental Health & Recovery Resources: Texas overall boasts some of the best VA Hospitals in the country. Soldiers should connect with their VFW or on-post VA representatives and begin their VA paperwork before leaving active duty. The Vet Center in Killeen Heights provides a broad range of free and confidential counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat veterans and their families. Additionally, Tricare and US Family Health Plan providers are located throughout the state.

The nonprofit Bring Everyone in the Zone serves wounded Service Members, Veteran and their families, helping those who have PTSD, traumatic brain injury, or who have experienced sexual assault or other traumatic events in their lives. Serving military service members, veterans, and their families located in Bell, Coryell, and Hamilton (including Fort Hood), Families in Crisis, Inc. provides emergency safe shelter, food, clothing, school supplies, diapers, and other necessities, as well as crisis intervention, advocacy, and support services for victims of family violence or sexual assault. Ft Hood Massage, Reiki, and Reflexology Program by Comfort for America’s Uniformed Services (CAUSE) offers weekly massage, Reiki, and reflexology treatments at no cost to wounded service members and their caregivers. Scott & White Healthcare and the Central TX Fort Hood Chapter of AUSA developed Homefront Project to provide individual, marital, and family counseling to those who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan post 9/11.
