Affordable College through the Yellow Ribbon Program
One of the benefits many military members, Veterans, and their families can access is the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
For individuals who qualify for the complete benefit, the Post-9/11 GI Bill pays for:
In-state tuition at a public university or
up to $ 21,084.89 for a private or foreign school (in 2015)
A monthly housing allowance
A book stipend
Individuals can also receive partial benefits dependent upon their time in service and eligibility.
For many, the Post-911 GI Bill can cover the entire cost of tuition, but
What if your tuition costs exceed the amount you or your loved one receive from the Post-9/11 GI Bill?
There’s a program for that!
Degree granting, higher learning institutions (colleges and universities) can participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program to make additional funds available to Post-9/11 GI Bill students who are entitled to the maximum benefit rate to help cover the cost of their education beyond what the Post-9/11 GI Bill provides. The VA then matches those funds beyond the Post-9/11 GI Bill amount the student receives.
