Citi, a leading global bank with approximately 200 million customer accounts, has a long history of supporting military service members, veterans and their families. In 2012, Citi launched the Citi Salutes™ initiative, which consolidates all of Citi's programs, products and partnerships that support the greater veterans' community. Building on a proud tradition of best-in-class service to military veterans and their families, Citi Salutes comprises Citi's long-term commitment to create career opportunities at Citi and within the broader financial services industry; design Citi banking products and services tailored to military customers; develop money management tools and resources to build financial capability; and forge effective partnerships, led by Citi Community Development, with veteran service organizations.
Among the many programs offered by Citi is ClearPoint Reconnect, formerly CredAbility Reconnect. The program is based on the realization that it is difficult for those in the military to "reconnect" and establish themselves when they return home from service. In the words of Mechel Glass, Army veteran and Vice President of Education at Clearpoint Reconnect, “I’d been gone for years, and when I got back from deployment overseas, so many things had changed. It was hard for me to reconnect with what was going on in my life or my finances. My career path meant going back to school while raising my daughter, then starting my own business — challenges my military background gave me the strength but not necessarily the financial skills to manage. With support from my family and good advice from people I trust, I was able to not only get my own finances in order, I now focus on helping others do the same. Working on the Reconnect team, I’ve actually put together a program that helps the women, men and families who’ve served our country reconnect by building their financial skills.”
The Reconnect Program offers free educational resources through their interactive site, which features personalized courses and activities, interviews with military families, and the opportunity to earn credits and rewards. Throughout the program, you'll develop a personalized action plan to help you achieve your goals and overcome financial challenges. Clearpoint employs an entire counseling staff made up of veterans and close family members of those who have served.
