Amy Rossi, Director of Training for CASY-MSCCN, presented a resume workshop at the North Carolina National Guard's Education and Employment Center’s Veteran Career Days, a job readiness workshop and employer networking event, at NCNG Headquarters, on May 7th and 8th. The job readiness workshop and employer networking event is held quarterly to help maintain retention and readiness by focusing efforts on Soldier and family welfare. According to the NC State Commerce Department, some 20,000 veterans are projected to be entering the NC civilian workforce over the next several years. An integral part of remaining ready is ensuring all Soldiers and Airmen are postured for success when seeking employment.

On Wednesday, May 7th, local human resource professionals presented job search workshops and coached participants on education funding, job searches, resume and cover letter techniques and a question and answer session about the employment process. The coaches are volunteers from local employers. A few of the workshops and presenters included: Finding the Right Job for You, presented by Koren Losack from Kelly Services; Education Opportunities, taught by Matt Thewes from Fayetteville Technical Community College; Successful Social Media, presented by Steven Miller of Lynkforce; and The Importance of Cover Letters, presented by Celeste Chapman from Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. On Thursday, May 8th, local veteran-friendly employers with open positions met with interested Soldiers, Airmen, other veterans, and eligible family members. Thursday's employer sit-downs were scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in 20-minute blocks per participant.
