VETERAN SUCCESS STORY
As a retired veteran and military spouse, I was undecided about what I really wanted to do since I was no longer in uniform. I had spent the previous 21 years following orders, moving from place to place and job to job and, in many instances, without any say in the matter. Now, the time had come for me to take charge of my own post-military destiny. While in the military I earned a degree in Education, but later decided I didn’t want to pursue this career. I also knew I wasn’t ready to head back into a classroom. One thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to continue working with Soldiers and serving my country in a civilian capacity.
I initially found employment within the federal government system; however, it was not a career I wanted to pursue. One day while perusing the internet, I ran across MSCCN’s site. I sent an email and left my contact information and was immediately contacted by my employment specialist, Micki. She listened while I explained the direction I wanted to go with my new career. Micki helped me tweak my resume and also provided me with numerous job lead notifications in the field I wanted to pursue and in my new geographic location. She constantly followed up to check my employment progress. I never felt alone throughout the job search.
I am now once again working with Soldiers in a career field that I love. MSCCN really does care about the military spouse and, in my case, veterans as well.
