Transition is one of the most challenging parts of military life, no matter the branch of service or the type of transition--PCS moves and relocations, retirement, or shifts from active duty to Reserve or National Guard. Transitions affecting employment are difficult because they often require different types of assistance from multiple agencies. The experience can be overwhelming, especially when you are located in one state while looking for employment in another.
CASY & MSCCN are involved in many public-private partnerships throughout the nation that help our military, veterans, National Guard, and family members transition successfully. Through these partnerships, we and other nonprofits work with public agencies to build and deploy strategic plans to mobilize resources and build networks to better support our men and women in uniform during various career stages and with different family needs.
Did you know there are thousands of public and private programs nationwide to help you? Programs range from direct placement assistance at CASY & MSCCN to securing training or education money beyond the GI Bill and TA, gas cards for travel, and suits for interviews…it all exists!
It helps to know where though, right? The MSEJ will begin showcasing public-private collaborations through state-by-state highlights that identify programs that provide real outcomes in locations close to you to help you find the assistance you need during your transition. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of the resources these programs provide and share them with others.
Next month, we'll look at North Carolina, a state that has connected multiple agencies and non-profits to meet growing military needs. The partnerships developed over the last 2+ years were recently awarded for the collaborative efforts established to help those they serve. The North Carolina National Guard Education and Employment Center (EEC) has taken a leading role in coordinating these efforts for all National Guard, transitioning military, veterans, and military family members in North Carolina.
