CASY & MSCCN: Please tell our readers a little about yourself and what you do at Boeing.
Conrad: I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the small town of Pleasanton. It’s not so small anymore. I entered the United States Naval Academy at 17 years of age, graduated in 1986 and then served twenty-four years in the Navy. I served on two ships and deployed to the Western Pacific in the late ‘80s. In 1992, I became a Navy Public Affairs Officers and served in that capacity until I retired in 2010. I held various assignments in both the Atlantic and Pacific, along with three tours in The Pentagon. In my final assignment I served as the Public Affairs Officer for the 29th Chief of Naval Operations, ADM Gary Roughead.
I have been with The Boeing Company now for five-and-a-half years and enjoy it immensely. Boeing has great people, a wonderful culture and we build the most amazing products. It’s no surprise that we are entering our 100th anniversary as a company. I am currently the Director of Communications for Global Services and Support (GS&S), a business unit of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, which is comprised of more than 12,000 employees in 266 locations worldwide. I provide communication support to the GS&S president, Leanne Caret, and work with the finest group of communicators who work so hard to support the GS&S business. I’m very proud to serve in this capacity.
CASY & MSCCN: Why has Boeing supported MSCCN throughout the years?
Conrad: At Boeing, we constantly strive to deepen the strong relationship we’ve developed with our military and those who have served.
