The Expo’ s unique site has a 100-acre exhibit area adjoining a 600-acre working research farm. In the exhibit area, which includes both outdoor and indoor exhibits visitors will find every imaginable product or service a farm could ever need. In addition to the static exhibits visitors can attend educational, entertaining seminars and demonstrations offered in a variety of specialized areas. When I first started going out to cover the Expo for the newspaper, in 2005, not really knowing a lot about farming, I was completely blown away by the GPS tractor, which I was invited to take a ride in as it harvested peanuts out in the field. Fast forward to last year, I saw an autonomous tractor out in the field. No driver on it at all. The driver was standing a fair distance away operating it via a mobile device. The year before last, a sprayer drone made its appearance in the sky over the field. I was allowed to pilot it for a few minutes with its handheld console. Yet another cool experience I can thank the Sunbelt Expo for.

Also, over the years, I have found many different interesting vendors and booths in the Family Living building on the show grounds. There are vendors selling leather products, goat milk soaps and hand-poured candles, clothing items, cookware and even vacuum cleaners. In years past, I’ ve seen Himalayan salt lamps( before they became a thing), quirky handmade metal yard art, and purses made entirely of car seatbelts. You’ ll also find a variety of food products to taste and buy like sauces and jellies, flavored nuts, honey, syrup and jerky. And this is where you can see cooking demonstrations, which make me hungry because I always wind up walking through

the Family Living building right before lunch.
No fear, though. There are several food and drink vendors to choose from set-up all over the Expo grounds. From barbecue and roasted corn to hot dogs and nachos, you have quite a choice of eats. A booth that I like
