The Women ’ s Federated Club of Moultrie sponsors a girl ’ s club , the G . E . M . S . ( Girls Exemplifying Magnificent
Standards ), at Williams Middle School . Members march in the Martin Luther King Jr . Day Parade in downtown Moultrie . have their voice heard , to now sitting on boards , they have come a long way .
“ I decided to join WFC because their commitment to our community mirrors my own passion for service ,” said Vice President Pamela Heidelberg . “ I found it to be an honor and privilege to serve among women I admired . These women were always seen volunteering at different events . They served on various boards in our community , and most importantly they were always looking for opportunities to help uplift others .”
I spoke with the active president , Stacy Jones , about successful programs that stood out to her .
Although all the programs they participate in are important to her , one notable event is the Martin Luther King program . This year they were able to bring hundreds of people into the historical Mother Easter Baptist Church , she said .
“ His ideas , beliefs , mission and memories are kept alive cultivating and promoting a strong community . Martin Luther King ’ s Program is like a magnet pulling in like-minded people from all around . It ’ s a time we reflect on the dream held by Dr . King ,” she said .
Jones remembers fondly , as a youth , being required by the school to commit to being a part of the program . Seeing the women of the Women ’ s Federated Club , representing dignity and class , to now being the president is remarkable , she said .
This goes into the theme that ’ s hosted every year , which is to have somebody who can inspire the brilliant minds of the youth . The WFC has youth clubs in schools , building on the same concept since its inception : “ Lifting as We Climb .”
