Astriking feature of the space is the “ McCall House ,” complete with windows and porch light lanterns on either side of the door . Inside , children will find a large peg board on the wall where there are colorful shapes to move around . The house is an homage to William Frank McCall Jr ., a local architect who achieved national acclaim . It is because of him the arts center has a permanent collection of 72 works on paper , created by American artists of the 19th and 20th centuries . They can be found housed in the McCall Gallery .

“ Children are able and welcome to explore architecture with our Frank McCall playhouse , learn about fundamentals of colors and color theory with our color wheel and light tables , create pixel art with our STEM wall , and increase literacy with our library and books to read ,” Porteus said . “ Additionally , we have carried these ideas into the hallway where we have a custom stage they can perform on , a light up table with colorful magna tiles , a reading nook , and custom mural from our curator .”
The Kaleidoscope Children ’ s Museum is free and open to the public during the hours that the Arts Center of Moultrie are open and there will also be different classes , held in the space , that you can register your child for during the year .
“ We are working with some of our current instructors to offer a ‘ Mommy and Me ’ music class for pre-school aged children and are planning some group ukulele classes ,” said Porteus . “ Our goal is to offer as many high quality programs as we can .”
