It was vibrant and colorful and also welcoming and cozy — a perfect place for busy little hands to explore and create their own masterpieces with inspiration from the famous masterpieces portrayed on the walls .

“ Art is such a crucial part of development ,” said Program and Education Director Krysta Porteus .
Yost had told me , when we had sat down to talk about the renovations in March of last year , that she imagined older kids taking music lessons and their parents taking the younger siblings into the interactive museum while they waited .
“ I think this will be a great place for families to visit and engage with various types of art offered at the Arts Center ,” Porteus said .
Low , comfy chairs suitable for both kids and adults are scattered around the room . On shelves , you ’ ll find picture books not just about art but about a variety of other subjects , including some books in Spanish . By the way , the arts center would love to add to its collection of books in the museum . Anyone who wants to donate a book or books is more than welcome .
A small table and chairs with an array of colorful plastic pieces in different shapes and sizes sits in the middle of the room , just begging busy little hands to create .
