During the camelids ’ visit to Willow Lodge Personal Home Care , Denise Stallings feeds Dolly , the alpaca , and pets her . She said , “ God made some beautiful animals .”
“ And she was selling it at a price I could afford ,” she added .
She said she knew that camelids were herd animals so she didn ’ t want Tina to be lonely and it just so happened that about ten miles away from the location , in North Georgia , someone else was selling an alpaca , Dolly .
Both of the camelids were the same age , she said , and she picked them up at the same time and brought them home .
“ It ’ s been so great because they were both alone at the time that I picked them up and you could see how they just came alive . You can just tell when an animal is lonely and depressed ,” she said . “ They ’ re meant to be with their kind .”
She said once she brought them home , she got the idea that people could rent them out for events and parties . That was how her business , The Party Pack , was born .
“ And looking back and seeing how much joy they brought me , I knew that they could be great with therapy ,” she said . “ I really would love to make it a non-profit .”
She said that was her goal , eventually , and then she would be able to take Tina and Dolly to schools and nursing homes on a more full-time basis .
Right now , she does visits here and there and has been in touch with different schools and organizations . She has been in touch with a teacher at the Vereen School and would love to take the camelids there to work with the children . She said she would like to expand into hospital visits but also knew there would be quite a bit involved with doing that . BTW , be sure
