ing packets , snacks , board games , card games , puzzles , books , magazines , newspapers , new and used CD ’ s and DVDs , hygiene such as toothpaste , toothbrushes , dental floss , mouthwash , lotion , shampoo , conditioner , deodorant , tampons for women , pads , foot powder , eye drops , combs , men and women razors , shaving cream , hand sanitizer , sunscreen , baby wipes , chap stick , Kleen-ex , Q-tips , aspirin , tylenol , silverware , dishes , cooking utensils , holiday treats , holiday decorations , and other items as well .
The boxes that she uses for the packages are called flat rate boxes and they are free at the post office but the postage to send the box is not free . The cost now to send one package in a medium size flat rate box to our troops is $ 18.40 and usually takes about two weeks for delivery to each soldier via USPS .
“ As I look back over the last nineteen years that we have been sending packages to our troops , I pray that we have touched at least one soldier ’ s life . It may have been by the letter I wrote , or it might have been what we sent in a package , but I just pray that we made a difference in someone ’ s life .”, said Pat . In 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 , “ Now there are varieties of gifts , but the same Spirit , and there are varieties of service , but the same Lord , and there are varieties of activities , but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone . To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good .” Pat said , “ You can call it my passion , my calling , my gift , or my ministry , but I know that God has been right there each and every time that we do packages and I couldn ’ t do it without Him and I give Him all the praise , honor and glory .”
Her son , Evan , served in the marines from 2004-2008 . He spent two seven-month tours in Iraq and in 2007 was hit by an IED or road-side bomb on his second tour and returned home a few months later . For his heroism , he received the Purple Heart Medal , Good Conduct Medal , National Defense Medal , Iraqi Campaign Medal , War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal , War On Terrorism Service Medal , Combat Action Ribbon , Sea Service , and Deployment Ribbon . He now lives in Moultrie with his family .
