He said he ’ d be stripping and sanding with a coat and tie on and he had even painted the store , between customers , with a coat and a tie on . The ladies would be doing it in heels and hose , he added .

38 years with me . It ’ ll be 39 this year . And Dianne ( Gaines ), before she retired , had worked 36 ,” he said .
He said that he and his staff meet for breakfast every Friday morning and go out to eat on Tuesday nights after work . He said that they all just went on a cruise .
“ We do stuff together ,” he said and added that a lot of times people don ’ t want to see the people they work with outside of work but they weren ’ t that way . He said they all hug every morning when they come in and every night before they leave .
“ And that ’ s awesome ,” he added .
He said that he was born and raised in Moultrie and his father owned Modern Cleaners downtown , which was next door to where the store is now .
“ I grew up downtown ,” he said .
He said that when he got out of school , he would stay with his father at the cleaners and he ’ d go down to Watson ’ s Drugstore and get french fries at the soda fountain , by himself , because it was just two doors down . He ended up owning the building where Watson ’ s was once located , which he said was kind of fun to own it because of his memories .
“ Daddy would go pay on Fridays what I had eaten during the week ,” he said laughing and then said that sometimes he might splurge and go to Woolworth ’ s .
I asked him what the most unique item that he ’ s bought at an estate sale or some place . He said that he bought a piece of furniture that was painted and when he stripped it , he realized that it was made out of cherry wood and had 55 pounds of solid brass filigree work on it .
“ I didn ’ t know that when I bought it and it was a hope chest from 1860 . That was one of the nicest pieces ,” he said .
He said another piece , a bookcase secretary , that he bought and was painted , turned out to be made of tiger oak and had over
