games is used to support the band all year round and helps to keep students’ band fees as low as possible. The community has been very supportive of the band program this year. Local businesses, churches and many individuals have provided meals and snacks for band camp.
Jennifer Terry said,“ This is my seventh year as a band mom. My older son marched from 2018 to 2023, and my younger son is a junior this year. Both my husband and I are graduates of the CC band program( which is how we met) myself in‘ 92 and him in‘ 93.”
“ In my opinion, the best part of our band is the relationships that it builds. Some of my best friends are people who I marched with in high school and other band adults such as directors and parents who I’ ve met along the way,” she said.
From local Friday-night performances to national parades and competitions, the 50th Regiment Band has built a tradition of strong musical performance, student development, and community impact. Their continued commitment to excellence reflects both Colquitt County’ s spirit and the dedication of its leadership.
The 2019 50th Regiment marching band earned a grand championship at The Sound of Gold competition on Saturday in Waycross, Ga. In addition to the grand championship, the 50th Regiment also took home straight superior ratings, best in class field percussion, best in class pit percussion, best in class band, best in division field and pit percussion, best in division band, best overall brass, and best overall percussion. Color guard was third place overall and drum majors were third place overall. They competed against 17 other bands from all across Georgia and Florida.
