Irecently met with Jacob Thompson, the current high school band director, and learned that the band has participated in the following:
The Colquitt County 50th Regiment showed off its new uniforms during the Packers victory over Tift County, in 2011.
In 1995, the band performed in the National St. Patrick’ s Day Celebration in Dublin, Ireland. They were selected to represent the state of Georgia in this parade. This included a parade, a concert performance in Dublin’ s St. Patrick’ s Cathedral. The tour also included visits to Barney, Ennis, Galway, and a parade competition in Limerick( the band won 1st place).
The Daytona 500 in 2013, the band had the honor of performing as part of a 530‐member“ Mass Band” during the opening ceremonies. Sixty-five students participated in this national spotlight.
The 50th Regiment performs, in 2015, during halftime on Tom White Field at
Mack Tharpe Stadium.
